Shark Bait

by Clara Mae Gregory

Deathlessness
evades her
as the days
linger on far gone,
outlasting
Love's perpetuity.
She is floating
upon the briny deep
hyaline sea,
abiding her time
swimming the currents
Alone.

I know this feeling. You deliver its essence vividly perfect, no other words could do what you just did.

Nicely expressed. We're all shark bait in our own way, so it doesn't hurt to be a strong swimmer. :o)

I like Chris' comment and agree. This does definitely give me a feeling of loneliness and sadness. But the words are so beautifully crafted and weave together like a piece of rumpled sea-green silk... rumpled with life. Thanks for this beautiful poem, Mel.
