Body Double by Clara Mae GregoryIn my past...
I've been told
that I resemble
Hollywood stars
and super models...
In fact, I could've been
except for the fact
that I was shy
and only just a
little over five foot five.
In those days,
I lost more...
than just my
baby fat.
Those beauty pagent promoters
pestered my parents persistantly...
until I told them I wasn't interested
and refused to wear a BRA.
After peacing college,
I lived on the coast
and was approached
by a pimpy pornographer
who tried to tell me
he could sell me
and we'd both make
a whole lot of money...
But, like the others,
I assured him
and answered with clout:
This gal doesn't sell out. 05/12/2011 Author's Note: true....and my first nickname for 3 years was "Twiggy" (I was 15 and my hair was very short)....gotta a pic to prove it too

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/12/11 at 11:55 PM Highly abstract and appropriate title for what follows. With all due respect I must say, you are indeed a 'looker,' and can see why those certain undesireables of society could and would approach you. And yet you held your ground so confidently, which I'm sure will count for something at the pearley gates. |
Posted by Sam Richmond on 05/14/11 at 01:32 PM I remember Twiggy and Goldie Hawn. I think society placed far to greater importance on their 'look'. I'm very happy that you weren't victimized by the same pressures. 'Body Double' shows strengths, not only in character, but in your gift as a writer. |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 02/03/12 at 12:39 PM I love it, Melanie, and the beautiful baby that you were and are still. And who in their right minds would ever think to take advantage of the beauty you possess to this day in spades or think such a beautiful person as you are inside and out should sell that beauty out? |
