All But Decayed by James Blaylock
All But Decayed
smash all my feelings,
crush them into powder,
the bones in this here body
don't seem to really matter
once the blood boiled so hot
but not too much nowadays
besides staring at the sun
drives the blues so far away
and my full-body cast
has all but decayed

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 03/13/11 at 01:05 AM A wounded spirit expressed in this poignant poem. Reads like there is not only deep hurt but an attempt at denial. Melancholy. |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 03/26/11 at 11:15 PM I read a sort of acceptance here, an unwillingness to ignore the crushing aspect of life, the courage to speak of it and shake a poetic finger at it. Thanks, James. |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 12/18/14 at 01:26 PM I love the poem. other than its content. Love the whole feel of it beyond the telling of the testimonial, sad but poignant. |
