All But Decayed

by James Blaylock

All But Decayed

smash all my feelings,

crush them into powder,

the bones in this here body

don't seem to really matter

once the blood boiled so hot

but not too much nowadays

besides staring at the sun

drives the blues so far away

and my full-body cast

has all but decayed

A wounded spirit expressed in this poignant poem. Reads like there is not only deep hurt but an attempt at denial. Melancholy.

I read a sort of acceptance here, an unwillingness to ignore the crushing aspect of life, the courage to speak of it and shake a poetic finger at it. Thanks, James.

I love the poem. other than its content. Love the whole feel of it beyond the telling of the testimonial, sad but poignant.
