Unforgiving Walls (The Fly Saw Hope)

by James Blaylock

Unforgiving Walls (The Fly Saw Hope)

listen as the walls scream

out so loud and endlessly,

they're so unforgiving for all

they have seen and known,

for theirs was the sightliness of

so much nastiness, all drowning...

but there was a twinge of small hope

all within the seeing eye of a single fly

I'll never set eyes on a fly again without wondering if it's noticing any hope, and without wanting to see through the fly's eyes.

A dark piece of architecture with a hopeful ending, thanks to the proverbial fly on the wall. I like what you've done here.

This little fly really gives incredible focus to this piece. Thank you.
