Across Forever

by Tony Whitaker

Heaven’s fields unfold
to a spirit-filled splendor
Your life has left
but a new one enters

And there she stands
holding out her hands
to the one she loved
from the wings of a dove

He’s come home to you
Now it’s called forever
But just a moment ago
He thought it was never

That may be true but it is still a long journey. At least the light at the end of the tunnel can guide us. Thanks for sharing.

I like the way you take us from the infernal to the eternal now in this soft sad piece. There is a sadness but also the brightness of hope and belief. Thanks Tony.

I like how that last stanza straddles the threshold.

The hope of Eternal Life underscores this hopefilled poem.

Dear Tony; It's as if you could actually see the scenes as you wrote them. I know you've shown them quite vividly to me. Unassuming, unambiguous, just good clean poetry. Great reading. Sam
