Tomcat

by Chris Sorrenti

F-14 Over Water painting, unsure of artist

Variable geometrics folded back
the F-14 banks triangular
slicing atmosphere into vapor
afterburners launching
the fighter forward

beyond range of eyes

Tomcat
to land hugging aficionados
unappreciative of titanium life
breathing fast as splitting sound
the loudest roar of any feline

don't bother covering your ears

As much as I abhor war, I love seeing, hearing, feeling the power and beauty of many of the jets man has created. I especially liked the line "slicing atmosphere into vapor".

I asked my ex if he'd ever heard of a jet called a Tomcat - he said, "yeah, F-14, right?" You men!

I can understand your attraction to these very fascinating "talented" planes.
