Tomcat by Chris Sorrenti
Variable geometrics folded back
the F-14 banks triangular
slicing atmosphere into vapor
afterburners launching
the fighter forward
beyond range of eyes
Tomcat
to land hugging aficionados
unappreciative of titanium life
breathing fast as splitting sound
the loudest roar of any feline
don't bother covering your ears

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 01/24/11 at 07:41 PM As much as I abhor war, I love seeing, hearing, feeling the power and beauty of many of the jets man has created. I especially liked the line "slicing atmosphere into vapor". |
Posted by Linda Fuller on 01/25/11 at 02:40 AM I asked my ex if he'd ever heard of a jet called a Tomcat - he said, "yeah, F-14, right?" You men! |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 01/29/11 at 01:17 AM I can understand your attraction to these very fascinating "talented" planes. |
