Dali’s Clocks look normal to me

by Timothy Wilson

I was born in the year of the rabbit
I graduated in the year of the rat
Sometimes I feel like captain hook
The tic tic tok brings me closer to insanity
I have a drawer filled with old watches
I’ve got a Salvador Dali painting on the wall of my office
Sometimes I want to talk about art
And when I do I avoid that clock
I don’t know when
Just sometimes
My Friend Tony came over last night or last year or last week or something
Maybe He will come tomorrow I don’t know but I think he died
He wants to talk about time and I tell him I don’t have the time
With all the tic tok madness in my life I can hardly understand what’s happening around me
Maybe I should go to bed but I may have just woke up

Awesome narrative and introspection. Those first two lines are just perfect, too.

sometimes, maybe, the dream is real ... what then?

The title was intriging and the piece was well done/ LOVE the narration. G-d , I wish it really was a dream. I HATE reality.

Good poem Tim. I like the playfulness and leanings towards insantiy. Great minds think alike. I wrote a poem once called Killing Time, inspired by my son's Clinical Depression, and his own struggles with time. It's in my Millennium library if you'd like to check it out sometime. Kudos for the great read!

aside from the fact that i'm a monkey - i related to those first three lines -- they pulled me in. nicely done.
