(batteries not included)

by Charlie Morgan

the kid sat, not understanding.
the toys were motionless;
their cries are not heard.

batteries! batteries!
silently-screamed the toys.

the next morning the toys
were all facing the statue
of Jesus, prostrating themselves.

and 'life was blown into them.'
Buzz Lightyear, Woody, gal-pal Jessie
and Buckshot rode off into the sunset;

"yeeeehiii. ride 'em cowboy!"
Jessie exclaims, "thank You Jesus."
nods Woody, Buzz, Buckshot, "Yeah
thank you, Jesus for (no batteries included)."

What an awesome Christmas Day poem! You've outdone yourself on this one, Chaz. No topping this. Wow.

A clever mix of Christmas events and what gives life and soul. Thanks, Charlie.

Think of all the money someone makes because we buy all those batteries this time of year. I wonder when we'll see toys which will run from the light of the sun.

Although I am not religious, I can see the beauty here. Well done sir. Revelations are wondrous.
