censor

by Kristina Woodhill

they tried to censor the moon again last night
oh, yes,
lilliputian hands pulling with all their might
from the dark side,
demanding equal time;
small-minded feet tromping deep craters
ancestors had carefully mined,
checking for tiniest oozing fissures,
threatening to spread out
over dust and leave uncomfortable
rivulets, seeking the larger ocean's sky;
oh, yes, and indeed,
from my vantage point and bi-glasses view
far, far below,
i saw a kind of grass fire dance along,
soft orange hue a belie of hard intentions,
a book end in search of material to press
or slyly push aside,
a hot patch to blind a cool, all knowing eye,
oh, yes, i felt the sister's jealous stirrings,
gathering dark minions
where the bard's uncontrollable passion
monthly resides

Weird, wonderful and nothing short of remarkable.

I agree, just wonderful. Your inspired retelling of the even makes me want to shake off the heavy trance of it all, and leap into a dance. Very cool. Thanks.

I can think of very few more intriguing first lines than the one you've got here. I don't think there's any way someone could stop themselves from reading the rest, and you don't disappoint. Excellent.

Well laid out response to the recent eclipse Kristina. And a pallatable diversion from the madness of Christmas, especially those poor souls who had to travel, survive against the wims of winter storms in the eastern U.S. and Canada.

Amazing! You saw the eclipse? I was fast asleep I am sure. You catch the event in whimsy, fantasy, and awe. Thank you.
