Halloween Fingerlings

by Kristina Woodhill

fingers met with stilted nails
painted tips embedding tales
tapping, snapping, trimming sails

scratching at encumbered sands
tracking, pulling dabbling hands
bubbles popped, a sea-saw strand

seaweed shifting side to side
fingers catch at castle's hide
digging at the moat's insides

fingers flowing, fingers floating
fingers bleeding, fingers bloating
finger nails chipped, slough their coating

pretty little fingers, draped
o'er the ocean's waiting, gaped
waving, waving, waving,
sculpting breezes, stiffly shaped

I really enjoyed this - especially when I read it aloud - it is a poem that simply deserves to be audible!

...steve's right, i read it aloud and started swaying like the seaweed and all in this piece of connectedness.

Fun read Kristina. Excellent use of words to create rhythm.
