Sandy Leads Me

by Glenn Currier

My friend Sandy has left us.
I see her arising
moving across the plains
striding easily and joyfully
touching her fingers to golden wheat
swaying in the breeze of freedom
her eyes focused on the bright Now ahead of her.

Her smile tells me she has left
the dark swamp of suffering,
her determined spirit
heading victorious into the Light.

I could occupy myself
with what my friend Sandy has left us
but as I watch her moving beyond
I find myself thinking about where she leads me.

She leads me to loyalty
to family
to principle
to practical wisdom
to toughness in the face of adversity
and a soft inner core
of kindness and gentleness.

Sandy leads me into a protected cove
leafy green with character
integrity
and love.

I look forward to visiting
and lingering
and being
in all those places
Sandy leads me.

I love the places Sandy leads you, and love the sentiment, the imagery, the voice, the wordflow of your poem. Thank you for taking us to visit and linger in such beautiful spaces....*m.a

I like this tribute and how this person has influenced you. Thank you. It's like you are continuing to walk together forward.

As sweet and and honest a tribute as I've read here, Glenn. Sandy was fortunate to have been in your life, and I'm sure from reading this, you in hers.

This is exquisite. Surely she smiles over it.

I am sorry for your loss, Glenn. This is a beautiful and perfectly competent tribute, though, for what that's worth.

What glorious words of farewell to a friend who has gone on before.
