The Pearl by Marina DawnYou try to hold the pearl
in your mouth, like a metaphor.
You think, This is an animal thing.
Meaning, the pearl.
Trying to hold it--
that part, that human part.
You like this, how
it makes you remember the act of creation.
Having made this small wonder
from a piece of grit. 08/29/2010 Posted on 08/29/2010 Copyright © 2025 Marina Dawn

Posted by Samiah Haque on 08/29/10 at 04:46 PM i enjoy the way that you write, and how the moments are slow and deliberate, i mean the moments in the universe of the poem. this is a sad and sweet poem. |

Posted by V. Blake on 11/10/10 at 05:36 AM The word "primordial" comes to mind when I read this. I'm a bit fuzzy on the definition, but it popped into my head as I reached the end and tried to come up with a comment. At any rate, this was definitely an interesting and awesome write. |
