Searching

by George Hoerner

for the grief the good the god
the goat the gore
all the who’s the whats’
the when’s the ats’

the love the lonely the longing
the lost the loony the irony
the wise the whore the word

the right the wrong the gone
the would be the wouldn’t be
the mood the money the honey
the food the feel the fuck the fine
the rhyme the me the you the time

the house the mouse
the home the loan
the upper the higher
the downer the lower
the loner the leader the reader

the painter the panter the raver
the better the worser the terser
the ranter the banter the batter
the thrower the catcher the color

the blue the black the bold
the hold the bought the gold
the sot the sold the old

the going the gone

Thanks for letting me tag along on your adventure and giving me a peak into dreams, fears, joys, hopes, and desires. This was a fun read but also very though-provoking. I kept trying to see myself in your search, trying on your vision. What I like about it is the mixing of a search for the mundane with the search for deeper meaning. Thanks, George.

i pictured this sung / growled; all gritty and low-tone; in a poorly-lit-smokey-club kind of way.

This seems like somewhat of a departure for you. I like how the random stream-of-consciousness lines somehow form a cohesive whole, and the last line ties it up nicely.

Really like the use of aliteration throughout this. Also in how it leaves the interpretation soley to each individual who reads it.
