Self Engineering

by Max Bouillet

I am building
myself out of little
pieces of clear recycled plastic.

I'm trying to go greener
this time.

In the past,
I've tried other materials
but glass breaks
iron rusts
and wood burns.

Oh, don't worry.
I've learned my lesson.
I'm numbering
each section.

It won't take
nearly as much
effort to pull
myself together
next time.

Unless, or course,
I melt.

I like this a lot sir. It seems that when people talk about gonig green they mean saving those things which God made. But if he made us should we not save what we've made also? And after all maybe it is we who are god.

Selveolution I call it. Good write, Max. Hey, all I really want to know is, how can I eventually just turn into a ball of light and fly off the planet?. Thanks.

Love the allegory!!!! VERY much. I suspect, though, you will. Melt. Maybe try water. No. That evaporates, or freezes. Hmmmm. Must think of something whose form isn't alterable.

This is a little gem. Like all of it, but particularly your 4th & 5th stanzas.

You could perhaps be made of sugar...doomed to live in fear of rain...but that's a small price to pay, right? In truth, this is a lovely collection of succinct metaphor and allegory, and the image of a man, in many pieces and scattered about, attempting to re/de/construct some new sort of form, so that there are no soft spots, no exposed plates or tender underbelly, no carbon footprint or polluting flesh...it makes for some interesting contemplation!

This is a beautiful composition relating to self-discovery. Identifying all the things you're not to uncover the real you. We're like a giant puzzle with a couple of missing pieces. But you and Fibonacci seem to be right on track. Good stuff, Max!

what else to add to all these but remark - Brilliant in conception and delivery.

What I get from this is that I will melt or become mechanical if I am always recycling rather than creating. For me, the numbering of my parts is my tendency to be overly analytical rather than just being in the now with my self. Sooooo... you got me going - as you usually do. Thanks for the provocation.

this one made me laugh too! i recommend, in the very slight possibility of melting on the pavement in the sun, avoiding phoenix in the summer.
