~Dogwood~ by Wendy SparlingI laze upon your spadiceous limbs,
dreamt of ships and fairytales,
pressed your virid leaves in bibles,
and kissed your angels sleeve
Linen white petals
adorning sorrel centers,
dance to winds embrace,
whilst heavy dew
seep upon her moss feet
Cradled in Angel's hand,
West Canada's Dogwood Tree,
British Columbia's Emblem

Posted by Max Bouillet on 05/21/10 at 02:16 AM Your language choice makes this poem feel sacred and holy. The beauty of the words and the way you incorporate nature, religion, and sensuality impress more than a picture on the readers mind --it imprints a dream. Fantastic words. |
Posted by Anne Boulender on 05/21/10 at 02:24 AM very pretty painting. i don't ever think i've seen blossoms like that before. |
Posted by A. Paige White on 05/21/10 at 04:25 AM I love how the top blossom appears to be leaning into the wind, the middle one launching upward and the bottom looking fully into the viewer's approval with a blue shadow perfectly done. This whole presentation of painting and verses truly lives up to "Cradled in Angel's hand". Exquisite. |
