Eating More than Words

by Max Bouillet

I stole your recipe book
and was disturbed to find
my name scribbled
in the ingredient list
for Stewed Arrogance.

It made me chuckle
until I looked down
and noticed that
parts of me were missing.

In a fit of ingenuity,
brought about by
the necessity
of self-preservation,
I erased my name
and scribbled in yours.

That was the last time
I ever saw you.

Cute and this had the possibility of going in so many directions from anatomical to philosophical.

That's the recipe for disaster then :> I can't wait for scrambled egos and mashed potentates...

Awesome, awesome stuff. That first stanza is just flat-out amazing.

what is love, but some undiscovered country to seek out and claim as one's own? something to enjoy whilst making such claims and discovery and suffering the pure consequences of which you have described so delightfully surreal.

"Stewed arrogance" - what a hoot! This makes me grateful that I have not seen parts of me in anyone's recipe books. Interesting to think of our minds as recipe books - which they are - or at least parts of our minds. Eating your words has been a tasty post-breakfast treat. Thanks for your genius, Max.
