a mirrored day

by Charlie Morgan

the gears of my mind were in neutral,
as i waited for my agenda to catch-up.
a day crafted in circumstances, and me:
waiting for the bullet points of my day.

surrounded by Quiet. i heard a cricket snore,
as the wave crests on my pool were wet reflections,
waved as they flew-by determined to get to the other end.

i am on life-support; i need to have plenty.
a job, for financials; a loving wife, for basics:
guidance, daily; a strong back for hard work,
a caring heart for my manly sloth and dignity.

i wait to retire, count the angels on a pin-head;
catch the Leprechaun at dusk of daybreak, his gold.
the Cheshire cat is jealous, as i enter stage left.

decades pepper my life, each an existence; a life.
an ocean current of madness held each together.
often my soul cried, often it would laugh out loud.

still, and all. i am, now, once wasn't. one day: not.

Lovely pondering your needs and wants, the snoring cricket, the determined waves, the decades that have shaped you with laughter or tears. Thank you.

You my friend can see the simple things in life and make the most of it. Like listening to the crickets and hugging a child. Best times.UH?

Very nice retirement poem Charlie. Now is when it really begins. I forget everything. My wife writes me a note for the store and I forget to take it, remembering only two of the six items and buying three things we already have, etc... Congtratulations on POTD.
