It Is A Killer

by George Hoerner

There it is again
Another thing
To endanger my health

Way back when
It was DDT
The mosquito killer

And we’ve known for years
That smoking wasn’t
The best use of the air

Next it was the TV
Which turned us into
Couch potatoes

What ever I eat
Seems to turn to
Cholesterol

Now it seems I’ve
Been ingesting BP?
From plastic all these years

Life is becoming
Difficult to maintain
One even might
Regard it as a

Terminal disease

So we need
Another pill
To do what

Should we try
To extend life
Indefinitely

Or develop
A painless
Euthanasia pill

I recently read that poetry is bad for the brain, too! Enjoyed this one though. And sympathise.

as long as there are odes of yours to read, to take on this ship called life, life will be much more smoother sailing and if the waters get too rough, your ode will serve me for a lifesaver. your odes float, George.

if everything is killing us even the stuff that's supposed to be saving us is killing us...

"One even might Regard it as a Terminal disease" - great ironic line.
