Where?

by Dave Fitzgerald

Where be to thy Mother dear?
Thy Mother dear be nowhere near.
Ready be thy Mothers tea.
Oh where, oh where thy Mother be?

Your poem gets to me in a way so unexpected as I let it sink in. It is incredibly meaningful to me and I do so identify with the question. What is special about the poem is the way it causes me to rethink the whole meaning of Mother, to become an explorer in search of this Mystery. Thanks, Dave. This is simply outStanding.

My first impression was to read it as a nursery rhyme. Obviously can be understood on several levels. Delightful read!

You've hit some emotional notes here in four simple lines. Well done.
