Play Me - Haiku by Tony Whitaker A lone mountain moans
Alps awake to first snowflakes
Croons the Alpenhorn
10/01/2009
Author's Note: The beauty of these snow wrapped Alps, as I await that first day of skiing those magic mountains with the sound of the Alpenhorn, fills me with the words of an old Neil Diamond tune: And so it was
that I came to travel
upon a road that was thorned and narrow,
another place,
another grace
would save me me. You are the sun. I am the moon. You are the words. I am the tune. Play Me. (Neil diamond)

Posted by Glenn Currier on 10/01/09 at 05:07 PM Oh gees, my friend, how you just misty my eyes with this. Neil is my all time favorite poet-composer-singer. Your poem alone is sterling and bright but it is multiplied with the remembered Diamond lyrics. I will be thinking of you making that first pass down the slopes in coming weeks. Thanks for sharing with this poor Texas-bound old boy the loveliness and beauty of your poems and your mountains. |
