The Really Real

by Joe David

The really real is Truth with a capital “T”
And I wonder what it means for me
Down to the river to wash my sins away
To be reborn and live in a brand new day

The really real is God and all Creation
I too can know Him but only through relation
For God is Transcendent and yet He is here
I see Him in you and I see Him in the deer
I see Him in the wildflower and in the pale blue sky
But I see Him most clearly in my Beloved’s eye

The really real is Truth with a capital “T”
The Kingdom is now or it never will be
Live in the moment for it is all that we own
The future is mist and the past is long gone

I like all that too, same as Chaz, and I adore the message. Today (another capital T) is the day of salvation. Enjoyed this.

Your theology resonates and your poem penetrates... makes its way to the Heart of the matter from so many directions like the Medicine Wheel. The North of rebirth, the South of a past needing healing, the East of tender new growth, the West in the beloved's eye, the Up of transcendence. You took me into my own journey and honored me by allowing me into yours.

I enjoyed this one - though I have to admit the "Really Real" makes me think of the teen book that just came out. Thanks for removing that thought from my mind. I really enjoy the rhythm of this. Welcome to pathetic.

In this life Truth (Christ) means everything. And yes, we see God's creative spirit in all of life. On the Earth "the future is mist, the past is gone". But there is Eternity where Truth fully resides! Philosophical and challenging.

I like the use of the phrase "really real", its repetition, and especially the emphasis on what we have in the now.
