On Becoming My Twin by Alison McKenzieOn the half moon,
I go to the library
And encounter my twin.
She is taller than me,
Lighter hair,
Flowing clothes.
I didn’t know she existed,
But she’s known about me,
For some time.
She's just been waiting,
Patient, for me to show up.
She is so gracious
In her welcome
As our parallels merge.
She is luminous,
Shimmering in her reality,
Gossamer hair,
Translucent being of Glimmer.
We meet at the library,
Columns of support in the architecture,
Pillars of knowledge,
Books without end
Which contain everything
I am to learn.
On the half moon visit,
I meet my twin,
And she is me
And all that I am becoming.

Posted by James Zealy on 08/28/09 at 04:56 AM As you stand upright and proud of what those books can teach, the time will come that you are not just the recipient but the giver in return. Learning and education are liberating. Intellectual discourse is intimacy on whole other level. I love this Ali |

Posted by Glenn Currier on 08/29/09 at 03:56 PM The sparkles in this delight. The idea of meeting your twinself in the library, in that space, in the books, of becoming, re-cognizing your Self in places and pages for the first time. Yes, you and this DO sparkle. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 08/31/09 at 03:51 AM This is too much fun - the half moon visit - the idea of a twin - the "translucent being of Glimmer". That second to last stanza is so clever with columns of support, pillars of knowledge, and books without end - I will remember this each time I visit the library. "She is so gracious
In her welcome" - see, you are already her in this.
