paint brush

by Kristina Woodhill

Lavender fields on Locust Lane

wear a long, cotton skirt
when cutting lavender

do not be too careful
when placing wands

into the woven
wicker baskets

let open petals
paint fragrance

brush hands
brush arms
(let folds of skirt
flirt and fondle)

brush nose
and hold -
a moment
of consideration

the landscape is complete
the canvas sighs

Beautiful! I like the whole description of the interaction between the gatherer and the gathered.

Your words like the illustration drop "fragrant petals" to leisurely enjoy!

What a beautiful bouquet to be worn in a gathering. I loved the mental picture of a woman's skirt fondling and flirting with living fragrance. What a beautiful gift to give the reader!

This is absolutely amazing. You had such a wonderful pallet to work with, and you, my dear, just painted a masterpiece!

Beautifully written; paints a lovely caressed picture in imagination.

I can smell the flowers and feel the breeze by reading. Lovely.

You awaken this old man's senses this morning... love the fragrance of lavender, but will have to simply imagine the feel of the skirt. Lovely.

You paint a great picture with words lady and provide a photo to support them. It was not really necessary as your words tell us what mother nature was thinking.

This canvas is now splashed in shades of purple. No wildflower is more deserving than lavender. And nothing is more difficult to poeticize than wildflowers...this is fresh!!

I mean, nothing is more difficult to poeticize in an original way...and this IS fresh!

This is quite beautiful

It is sight and sound and smell and flavor all at once. The capivating lavendar, perfumes are indeed the feelings of flowers. Lovely. Thanks.

I like the "how-to" tone of this, and I love the metaphor of gathering flowers and painting - something very soothing about this poem. (Unfortunately, your picture didn't come up - I'll try again late).
