Sunrise by Leonard M HawkesConsciously watching—
Broad, gold, red,
Gloriously morning-fresh,
Rising up from the flat horizon
Of the Colorado plains—
Like Phaethon,
I sense our kinship
And would sail with you
Until you sink below
The western snowy peaks.
But earthbound,
Turn my back
And walk the second
Stressful, well-lit
Up-hill mile.

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 06/21/14 at 01:00 PM an enchanting poem. you could as easily be talking about a woman, which more often than not is indistinguishable from a sunrise. congratulations on POTD. |
