Priceless

by Genevieve Sturrock

i awake with anxious anticipation
bordering between pleasure and pain
rushing through my morning routine
i wonder what the day will bring...

gas to spend the day with my kids: $10
lunch at the mall: $30
a few outfits for summer vacation: $330
movie and popcorn: $70

today with my kids: priceless

....the sound of their voices
still ring in my head
as i drift off to sleep
heaven can be no dearer to me
than the time i spend with my kids

Author's Note: though i do not particularly love the mall, every dime, every minute was well spent....is there any greater pleasure than having kids?

It certainly doesn't sound like it, going on this piece. A perfect scene for what I imagine was a rather perfect day.

having had this priceless experience myself, I have total affinity with this. kids are a blessing and a bliss, no matter what age or what what prank or mischief they are conceiving within themselves.
