Tea Party Today by Quentin S ClingermanIt was raining and chilly
But the atmosphere was warm and enthusiastic
People of all ages, walks of life
Gathered in front of City Hall
Megaphone announcements
Signs galore
Chanting patriotic
But a singular call
No more bailouts
Cut the spending
Less government
Cut taxes
People were friendly but fed up
Government is the problem
Not the solution
Walked from City Hall to Winchester Hall
A sea of umbrellas, signs, flags, and tea bags
No threats, no violence, just deep concern
No threats, no violence, just deep concern 04/15/2009 Author's Note: There were several hundred people who gathered in front of the City Hall in Frederick, MD. Winchester Hall is a couple of blocks away and is the seat of the county government.

| Posted by Sandy M. Humphrey on 04/16/09 at 08:35 PM Less Big Government maybe and more local with people taking care of the community around them might be the answer. smh |
| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 04/16/09 at 10:41 PM We feel the same concern here in Canada, Quentin. What a mess, but I am still confident that our peacefully voiced opinions do not go in vain. It was bound to happen sooner or later, the exposure of the greed of the few, at the expense of the many. This history repeats itself again and again; the French Revolution especially comes to mind. Well laid out, thought provoking, and what global citizen can't be affected by your poem...what inspired it? |

of the few". I always thought the youngsters in life were the rebels...well said Que |
