Silk and lace

by Tony Young

For each breath taken,
the same felt on her face.
the bills got paid
and she got to dress up
every night.
elise and grace

For each kiss truly meant
the whispers long,
intense
arms kind and strong
of whom she'd long
whom then would leave her without trace

For each place where she laid her heart
the same broken there

each breath
each kiss
each place
each night
of
silk and lace

Interesting story. I like the fragmented approach this seems to have. We're not getting every detail, and I think that makes it that much more interesting.

Beautiful Tony, just beautiful! I cannot pick out a favorite line or stanza because I LOVE all of this exquisite piece! I'm adding it to my favorites list and suggesting it for POTD!

I agree with Gabe. This hits me pretty hard and I think it's beautiful. I'm adding this to my favs.

...tony, this is a walking pome[sic], love the line-breaks (which so many times make a pome) and you have a Shakespearean lilt to it, 'scorned from thy base, of which never to return' paraphrasing...but you ring a similar bell.

This feels like me, a rare find. Thank you.

There is a delicate feel to this, and a great sadness underlying it. Lovely ending stanza.

Also quite nice. Love the unexpected line: the bills got paid, but quite apropos with the theme and other images.
