Nimbus

by Alison McKenzie

I am fractured,
The elements that make up my whole
Scattered over grains
And weeping.

I am the storm,
Blown in from southern waters,
Nimbus to Cumulus,
Falling onto parched plains.

I will dance on the earth.
The Earth will absorb me.
I will marry the soil,
And we shall produce life.

The sun will warm my parts,
Whose roots will network,
And I will reconcile to unity,
Welcoming even the dung.

Author's Note: I have this vision of the different aspects of myself, some of whom I've exiled for some time. It's time to welcome them home.

Well shoot! El beat me to quoting my favorite line of this. Wonderful poem. It looks green to me in honor of St. Patrick's day. Big hugs to you, Ali!

This is sooooo good- love the nature images. The third stanza was my favorite! Thanks for this piece!

Wonderful "wicken" analogy of the human condition. I especially like "networking roots" and "welcoming even the dung."

Hello Alison. I wish I had more time to visit this wonderful site and read such enlightening poetry. This is a jewel from your crown of collected poems!

We, some people, (OK! me) are not used to hearing the truth as it is sometimes spoken in the hidden lanquage of artists such-a-one as you - the sound can be almost brutal in it's illumination - wow what a thrill!

This piece is beautiful Alison, I would even say flawless. It feels to me like poetry which was always there, whispering to you, and one day you were present to hear it. "I will marry the soil...welcoming even the dung." Yes - those lines are most beautiful, most revealing and powerful. It's the perspective which matters, which changes, which becomes you.

I enjoy how you bring yourself together in this, an accepting of all parts. It has a strong stance, at the same time aware of the unsavory. Eyes open wide. Thank you.
