To the Symphony of Forever

by Chris Sorrenti

save that next dance for me luv
so undeniably ours
whether it be tomorrow
or if first the Sun must go nova

meanwhile

kisses for your forehead
framed with hair of gold
the scent and sight
of each strand played
upon sunlight and moonlight
a universe unto themselves

kisses for those satin eyes
of which I tremble
with each arrival
such sadness in their going

kisses for your ears
so delicate
that hang on my every word
eloquently reinforce
what mine own resonate

kisses for those cheeks of rouge
lighting the way amid our hours
whether putting history to shame
or promised future amid the gloomy

kisses for your lips of poetry
each rendezvous
heralding a new volume
and confirmation of
how I never want to stop tasting them

kisses for those hands and feet
in celebration
of the world you hold at your fingertips
and how the Earth is a better place
while you tread so softly upon it

kisses for the clothes you wear
each combination a subtle reflection
of how well we fit together
and beneath
kisses for those hidden places
you sometimes want me to kiss

meanwhile

I dare to ask luv
a short waltz
to keep me going
for the many lives you’ve led
and of those
you hold endearing
all in promise
of our next dance
to the symphony of forever

Author's Note: Heavily influenced by the lyrics and music of Leonard Cohen, especially: Take This Waltz, and Dance Me to the End of Love.

Ahhh, Chris....this is just right..like the correct cord for the melody....and the (unintentional?)slant-rhyme of "ours" and "nova" grabbed me right away. Delighted. Thanks.

A symphony of kisses - a warm, tender read. I liked the "meanwhile" segue - nice touch. Quite timeless.

Total Romance. I love it. I love Leonard Cohen. In fact, I think I love you! Very nice work.

Leonard Cohen lives inside my Zune. And, now mentioned, most assuredly I notice his influence in this Symphony of Forever. (Your vault intrigues!)

this poem IS a waltz, and with each turn, a flurry of kisses...love held in every pause, every image, every line step...a pleasure to savor love through your eyes...deserving of it's ranking on the top-rated list, kudos!...peace, jewels

Yesterday was a day without poetry, when I went to log in I could not for some reason but then today there was this poem and it really was worth waiting for, such beauty and tenderness from an old friend, I have missed your words and nostalgic style, nice waltz and yes do dance awhile. smh.

...kisses, so wonderfully used, i was jealous of the kisses someone was getting by the day, and i languish with a want for a kiss...Kings want a horseshoe, i want a kiss from the Universe...good pome, my buddy, goood one!

"All the world loves a lover" and here's to a true romantic - cheers! Beautifully written and structured without losing any of its heartfelt spontaneity, this is a poem to be treasured.
