Janus Time by George Hoerneryou damn thief
you steal minutes
and hide days
taking all too often
the best of the past
and leaving
the worst of the future
but who am i to complain
a mere mortal
barely aware of time
as you see it
a play thing
the game of games
an un-thoughtful invention
of man hoping for
eternal life and to control
the world around him
wishing some day
to control even
you
but no you will
ride out the infinite
existence of all things
known and unknown

Posted by Alisa Js on 12/30/08 at 03:16 AM I loved this one, especially the extreme tone running all throughout...

Posted by Glenn Currier on 10/02/09 at 04:31 AM Wow! How beautiful. I love the play thing thing and the sense of our human and earthly limitations - so wrapped up, bound and bounded in time. Great poem, George. |
