Peaks

by George Hoerner

to be one

with the mountain peaks

and measure time

knowing a season is a second

an eon a minute

but never the less

feeling the slightest

pull of the moon

as it circles above

or the earth shake

half way round the world

sensing the silent snow

as it layers itself

upon your cliffs

accepting the richness

received from nature

knowing no difference

between fair weather and foul

as love between humans

might be in some future

un-experienced yet

by mankind

This one really moves me - my fav of your recent writings. This flows strongly and cohesively to a hopeful ending.

I love the entire perspective. Wonderful.

I think if we could accept such gifts as are presented us unconditionally, then time wouldn't matter an inkling to me, but love would be the sole preoccupation, the love of giving and taking and accepting would triumph and rule over life's remainder. this poem speaks and peaks and is one with my heart.
