should have been a wild night by Morgan D Hafelethey were screaming at each other in english
but you couldn't have told me that then
it sounded so alien even though
i recognized every word.
i don't remember what was said
and don't rightly give a damn.
it was late. i was sleeping.
they were screaming in circles.
i like to believe they kissed and made up
but it doesn't matter
i didn't hear the end.
if jesus came back and destroyed the world
just for fun
well i'd probably sleep through it. 11/20/2008 Author's Note: she asked, "what's that mean?"
he said, "i can sleep through anything."

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 11/21/08 at 05:43 AM I love that last stanza, probably because I've had the same thought entirely too many times. Awesome write. |
Posted by Nanette Bellman on 11/21/08 at 03:16 PM this is packed full of witty lines. I second Gabe...the last stanza is wow. |
Posted by Anita Mac on 11/22/08 at 03:26 AM Yes well... Been there. Well done. There is something about it that reminds me of Gabriel. That's never a bad thing. Nice write, Morgs. |
Posted by Alison McKenzie on 11/25/08 at 07:58 PM You coulda been sleepin at my house back in the day when my parents screamed, and I did what you did....slept through it! I agree with Anita, is sort of reminiscent of Gabe's style. |
Posted by Laura Doom on 11/25/08 at 08:18 PM Ha! Scream, kiss, make up, scream...is there ever an end? An imperfect circle :) I generally sleep like a log in a wood-stove, but this kept me alert and burned a smile into my pulp-fiction consciousness :> |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/11/08 at 04:16 PM Captivating exchange Morgan. Reminds of the few times I've heard people screaming into their cell phones. |
Posted by Becca Kinser on 12/12/08 at 01:16 AM You amaze me a ridiculous amount. Sometimes I think we share a brain... :] You're so damn good. |
