Read Between The Lines by Sandy M. HumphreyTri-fold me and stuff me into
An envelope for I am the letter
Unread today
Scripted by pens in fragmented
Sentences
Thoughts penned by lonely
Hearts
Having never mastered
The art of not longing
Even when occupied
With the desires or fancies
Little corners twinge
With anticipation
Wanderlust
Lick and seal
With lips tired from
Kisses generic in form
Dry and unyielding
Lacking in moisture
Passion and prelude
Of thought
Routine in nature
Mere afterthoughts
Far from tender moments
Once bestowed
Stamp and address
Send me somewhere distant
For I am familiar
With the feeling
Of miles passing
Between spaces
Close and far between
And when I reach
The designated location
Perhaps some kind
Stranger will recognize
This is a letter
That needs to be
Lovingly Returned To Sender
Then you can open
And read all that
I have been trying
To say with unspoken
Words
I love you
I miss you
Please
Read
Between
The
Lines
11/10/2008 Author's Note: Sometimes it is best to write it down and not speak, let the words on paper say what the heart wants. "More than kisses, letters mingle souls."
John Donne
