Ants in the Sugar

by Joe Cramer

Ants lie dead

in the sugar,

curled up in

little red balls.

I spoon them

into my early morning

cup of coffee

wondering

if this will indeed

be the end of me.

Will this

cup of hemlock

be my eventual

demise?

In my morning's

awakening

the ants were gone,

the sugar clean,

succulent, sweet.

The coffee tasted

bitter.

I definitely laughed at the end...maybe your mind just ruined the taste because of the dream, but I do like George's take on it too, haha...~JPP

Well done - the ants really add a squirmy, bitter dimension to this and the wondering if they are in the sugar or not for real. Deeper meanings in the hemlock. Very interesting dream.

I find these words to be a wonderful concoction of images brewed for sipping to our heart's content.
