Leaves

by George Hoerner

leaves don't sing
but sound as if they do
while the wind
shivers through them
on its way to where
no one knows

leaves wave the wind goodbye
and murmur to each other
it goes where we can't follow
we stay and protect our trees

until we feel less bold
and winter sends its cold
as we turn crisp
and drop and twist

then wind comes again to sing
and does its thing
we'll travel then
and finally say amen

Yes! I find leaves have one song when the wind rustles through them, and then another as we walk throught them. Well stated!

The leave song lyrics are swear words around our place George. Good poem.....CharMin

Leaves leaving really seems to bring out the words in us, George. I enjoyed your poem. I love your wind shivering through them.

Remarkable and subtle symbolism.
