she asked

by Charlie Morgan

from so many miles she asks,
'how's life treating you?'

much like two lovers who've split,
who finally could broach the query.

i have to say 'fine and you?'
like i care, because i do, so much.

she is a lover of all creatures,
and i, just one of her chosen.

she's a hammock of lily pads on cool water,
shielding sunlight, keeping waters still

is her life giving question to me.
and like Joe Cramer, she's my muse.

her real-time lover is a peace-nik,
of that i'm glad, he will let me live.

as she gives each season a rightful name
and accordingly each one bows to her care.

Neil Diamond sang: I am, I said.
she makes me the frog-Prince.

Charlie, "she's a hammock of lily pads on cool water, shielding sunlight, keeping waters still" is a breathtaking." I'm certain Joe Cramer is honored.

Really nice write Charlie. I've been fortunate to have had a few muses in my life. They do tend to hang around long after they leave or are left....

Hehe. I was looking all over for your most recent post, and here it was all the time. Just like you. It's beautiful, Charlie. Just like you. Except when Neil sang it, he sang it "to no one there", and that isn't exactly true in your case.

This is breath-taking... just beautiful. So full of life. A fantastic way to start the day! (sigh)... such a great start! Hugs, ~N

thanks... this is brilliant!

Your most recent best in my opinion Chaz. Quite the roller coaster ride of images and emotions here. One is tempted to disembark, yet still wants to stay on for another ride. Touche!

ribbitribbit
for so long? Had me a sip of coffee when I read it and I know, you know, what happened.... musta been a flutterby breeze in my cup... :-D This is precious, Chaz! Right into my favorites. Like you!

Yeah this is quite honest and a vivid depiction of what happened and it evokes a lot of feeling too. S5 is incredible! ~JPP

"he's a hammock of lily pads on cool water" irresistable to a frog like me... had to hop back by when I found a reference to this and your stammering blushes to my reply... the prince on my lower back (that my son-in-law ALWAYS refers to as my tramp stamp) was croaking about how we should laze around awhile upon your hammock and listen for the splashes... lovin you, you poet you!
