Small Irritations

by Glenn Currier

The old couple
at the next table
their slow soft chat
hints of smiles
laden with a million facets
of their intimacy.

How many times
they must have ignored
the small irritations:
her unspoken comment
about his parking where he shouldn't,
he judging her
as "sink police" for leaving water
on the counter top.

...glenn, you've nailed one of the l a r g e r issues o' married life, just lovely, real, deep and on the money...

Well stated Glenn. When two (or more) people live together, married or not, they have to choose their fights very carefully.
