(I walk on) Lifeless Piles by Barry Franklinthe leaves fall down like rain in autumn
I wonder if they feel pain in falling
to die when they have grown for winter
to leave all that they've known forever
I walk for endless miles to nowhere
I walk on lifeless piles to get there
I think about the act of dying
and wonder why the trees aren't crying 10/10/2008 Posted on 10/10/2008 Copyright © 2025 Barry Franklin

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 10/11/08 at 02:28 AM I really love walking through fallen leaf piles, but you have given me a different way to think about the trees and what they might think about it all. Nice job. |

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 02/16/12 at 04:44 PM I love this. I wonder the same whenever I walk on leaves and wonder why the tree isn't crying and then I wonder again and I am certain that trees do cry, save they are crying inside the bark. |
