Another Question

by George Hoerner

when the questions you ask
are all rhetorical
your age has become historical
you find the answers in a flask
where do you go for relief

when all your beliefs unwind
your thoughts blow in the wind
your toys no longer bring joy
the news does nothing but annoy
where do you go for relief

your friends begin to loose their lives
the words of those left belie their eyes
your nerves don't respond
to the tall thin blond
where do you go for relief

when reality becomes abnormality
and the listless days
supported by listless lays
give no meaning to normality
where do you go for relief

when the pills in your purse
make you think of the hearse
and your emails get sparse
life seems like a farce
where do you go for relief

Everyone answer is different. But try swapping sunsets for sunrises? It sometimes works for me.

This was cool, George. Having tried your first stanza to a point a little beyond insanity, I now love to go hang out with drunks (and hearse spiels that have had their fill) that don't drink anymore and have a ball. It's like a new lease on life. Very thought provoking, thanks!

Um, is the answer R-O-L-A-I-D-S??? No? Oh, different question then, eh? Seriously, though, George, I'm right there with you, understanding more than I want to. Love to you!

Good questions with an open ended feel that leaves it up to us.

The questions of relief are often as beautifully complex as finding the meaning of life; and yet the even more amazing part of this is the rhetorical answer written between the lines -- where do you go for relief? poetry. Nice write :)
