Moonlight Kiss by Jane E PearceThe tired green hands,
fingers crisp, lay on the lawn,
waiting for a fall wind's wisp,
when summer is gone.
.
Their short life spans spent
on summer's follies,
and a full moon's secret trysts.
.
How many moments
does it take to purse
lips just right, to make
a perfect kiss on a warm
moonlit night?
.
To remember a pearl kiss
with moonlight falling over
your shoulder, keeps winter's
frozen hopes vital and from ever
getting colder.
.
So I close the door,
light the fire, play a song
in sonata form and think
of you and the moonlight kiss
to keep the winter warm.
.
