penny's hiding in the telephone booth...

by Olivia Weinkein

penny's hiding in the telephone booth,
all pigtails and torn stockings from
dreams that never surrendered.
& it's all gum on the bottom of your
shoe until someone gets hurt

every thing's for sale, baby
doesn't mean that every body wants it.

...olivia, a cute[to some]pome, to me it is heavy with the same altitude and latitude of successful[published] poets who ply the art and in this lil' juxtaposition of [a girl named penny, read: the transitional phase o' all lil-girls-to-women] SAYING NOTHING YET IT IS SO LOUD--THE TORN HOSE-is cacaphonous, now that's one plane, then you bring in dreams that never surrendered[another plane] sequeing again to the gum on the bottom until someone[personalization of the us-ness] and in case someone[an ET] wants to know how these carbon units operate, well the last two lines sum up such, the devastion of known life, is captured in your last two lines...olivia, this is a wonderfully poetic drama cum comedy of tragdies...great.

I like how this runs pretty deep for such a short poem, leaving me wanting more. Excellent slice of wisdom in those closing two lines. Kudos!

Very well done lady. This comes about a close to 'text messaging' all of Shakespeare that I've seen. Short but packed with more than many will ever understand.

Well done. This leaves me with down-to-earth gritty, city images and unspoken experiences that have left their marks.

Reminds me of something the villian might say to convince everyone else he's human just like the rest of us, but we know better...

Struck with awe, I am. There's more power and punch in this than any Olympic feat.
