reflecting on the poet's state of mind (tanka)

by Jim Benz

forty-eight years
have spun through space and time
in bright confusion --
cobwebs in the morning sun
catching dew

Love the "spun" wonder of this- the web of one's life exposed by the sun's light on it's dewdrops. The naming of the years gives a very old feel to this fresh, brilliant view- and the fact that a cobweb, like a life has an order built into it, yet may have a confusing look, adds to our wonderment.

I love the 'ku' forms and this one is done in the true spirit of the form, as well as reminding me of how old I am...
