Love in a Bowl by Glenn CurrierThey came bearing cheesecake
each wedge a creamy fiesta
this mother and daughter
doing the Texas two step
dancing and dipping
two souls mingling
wit and Chutzpah
a dash of mercy
particle of joy
and laughter
honoring
our tears
fears
and
angst
born of
growing
pains and
late strains
cloudy skies
distant thunder
parched July day
their visit sweet rain
balm rubbed by hands
on our hearts and wounds
sharing stories of journeys
children and difficult people
they feed us grains of loyalty
and love in the bowl of our lives. 07/16/2008 Author's Note: Dedicated to Judy and Amanda who visited us as my wife recuperates from knee surgery. During their visit, as if on cue, we got a much needed rain upon our very thirsty lawn. Tilt your head to the far right and you can see the the last line better.
