To Write Love On Her Arms by Melissa ArelSilver blades slice open the skin and the soul
They carve out painful secrets for all the world to see
[To remember] In flesh and permanent scars
Hidden beneath a cover of cotton
The manifestation of misery deepens with every cut
I want to hold my hand to the open wound
To be the cure and the healing -
To write love on her arms instead of death
And to offer faith instead of hopelessness.
