light as

by Kristina Woodhill

the touch of the tip
of a black cat's taut whisker

the breath
of a mother blowing
calm across a fevered
seasick brow

a seed riding the northwest wind
virtually invisible
potential encapsulated
in no hurry for touchdown
sensing rain on its tail

a homemade pancake,
wholewheat ground fresh
a high riser topped with
blueberries
held down only by maple syrup
and a pausing
firm
methodical fork

drift wood on the surf
no worries
bobbing its old gnarled head
in rhythm with a dolphin's wake
and sea songs
lapping
tapping
the drum of the wharf

a button falling
popped and unseen
bouncing off sleeve
grazing belt
catching the slick side
of a pair of passing
blue and white striped capris
the leg's loose backward swing
opening wide the cuffed mouth
a tiddlywink welcome

Wonderfully light as a feather as one's eyes follow it down the page. :o)

Charming, Kristina. These "words-on-the-wing" take immediate and poetic flight. Fav and a potd suggestion. Many thanks for this.

I like each stanza, the variety in the poem, and the variety in your work. You know how to pick out interesting dstails.
