Snow

by George Hoerner

across the field of snow i see

it has crept up the mountainside

allowing only a few hardy pines

which refuse to give up

to stick their tongue out

at the winter white

climbing still higher

it is now impossible to

see where the snow ends

and the sky in its

heavy whiteness begins

is this reality i see or

just my mind's eye

looking for the purity

amongst the impurity

of reality TV

that curious substitute

for modern man's

inability to establish

relationships with his

fellow man or

for that matter

with himself

...love the turn from ' the snow' to an all encompassing range o' life...brrr on both snow and man's inhumanity to man...good 'un, peace, chaz

I'm a sucker for anything snow right now and this one delivers well. I like the hardy pines sticking their tongues out, and your exploration within this heavy whiteness of man's relationships.

The images depict the blending of snow and sky, but your moral at the end creates a distinct horizon. The last line especially packs a wallop and sounds a truth about the postmodern scene. I love what you have said about the survival shows. They are so cheap in so many ways... the jagged edge of human ego on stark display.
