Threaded Tulip

by D. James McKee

Double helic-blossom
coiled flower at my feet
Rise! Rise!
let the sun smile upon you
sleeves of green, open
face of gold, nod
tall and strong
stainless magnolia
shatter your earthen vase
let the scent of
you intoxicate me.
heavy lidded
stone headed
hands cupped
fingers laced
I kneel to kiss your face.

This flows beautifully and I love, love, love how I can see, taste and smell every line.

Beautiful. And I'd take Spring at any cost right now!

Tulips are my favorite flowers. This poem is so rich and yet so simple. Wonderful!

One of the best combinations of passion and poetry I have ever read! Congratulations on POTD and thanks for this uplifting post.

the rhythm in this is like the accelerated heartbeat generally attached to the passion described. love it.
