Antithesis (punny fable)

by A. Paige White

once a little colony was was set for
the mighty building Rome ants
we shall not fall in a day!
and so met with their new Acquaint ants
the Road ants, said to steer the year and bear the loads
but fuel was too high due to selfish Import ants
The Absorb ants had all that they could do
were wrung out like a sponge and called for
the best Appear ants to coerce the
Contrive ants to meet with the Ally ants
in the presence of Insist ants
but Resist ants fought the Allow ants
for the Co-vary ants one night stands with Vary ants
of high, Fine ants
always just to score
No help for them, refine ants in thought shudder...
and Ask ants surely show
they should be ashamed!
so all the Abhor ants bit and stung
at the no show of any Assist ants
Persist ants reinforced the Resist ants and Abhor ants
so now all, yes all, so much the poorer
their Insure ants wouldn't cover such expanse
with such little Guide ants even with larger armed G.I. ants
and Accord ants knew it was time to call the Noose ants
exactly what they were...

Ignore ants for less Subsist ants and more Dissed ants from all Coexist ants.

Author's Note: The Rome ants failed in a day. Their Endure ants fell in exhaustion.

Probably like my kind readers who make it to the end of this ANTIthesis.

Very enjoyable. Maybe we could make it light opera and call it the Pirates of Pens-ants.

How you could pull this off just blows my mind! Kudos to word play and making sense and letting those ants loose on our pathetic world here. Thanks for a laugh that will last!!

Talk about laughing out loud! I read this to my wife, now recuperating from total knee replacement, and she got a real good laugh out of it. She said: "Gees, that woman is so clever and creative!" She wants me to print it off for her. I have read her a lot of poems from poets on this site over the years, but I think this is the first timed she has asked to have a copy. I loved the poem too. It was a pick-me-up from all the bad news. Thanks, love.
