Alone in the Desert

by Manas Moksha

Sagebrush in the shadows
Darkness uncovers its pungent smell
My skin is overcome by waves of night
caressing
soft and present

Thoughts digress
in an arbor of directions
and the darkness
slowly becomes my friend

I see neither desert or garden, but a focus on what is growing and what it gives. Well focused, well expressed, well described.

the only way to do justice to this poem is to say that I love it and to omit every other remark I might have concerning it, except to say that I find it remarkably composed.

I enjoyed this POTD. Having sagebrush near me now and as a child these words can trigger the fragrance for me. How you ease into the shadows and the night is very warm and enveloping. Thank you.
