ahead

by Mary Frances Spencer

freeway sign
blinking detour
golden arrow pointing
left

i drive on
can’t exit

life
unpredictable
hands gripping
can’t see
beyond
the obvious
directive

so flow
breathe in
the unexpected

deer crossing

alternate route
ahead

"golden arrow" so enlightened... and the "hands gripping" poem centered toward "the unexpected" "deer crossing"s of life... fascinating road map and your little afterthoughts have become a signature!

But oh how we wonder sometimes, the exit's "what ifs", maybe not even for ourselves, but for all those getting off the main thorough-fare and headed someplace different than our own obvious.

Excellent! Now, one of my favorites!

I took a beautiful drive through your words. Thank you.

Oh, what a cool idea, to write a poem about being in traffic. This is great. It is mostly an empty experience for me... guess I am not a good Buddhist... but never claimed to be. Thanks, my dear.

I love how all your words merge onto that great anecdotal highway towards their deeper meaning.
